Venues on the Mendocino coast, from the kitchen side

Whether there’s a walk-in, how far the load-in is, what the power will carry and when the music stops: the things a venue’s brochure never covers.

8 venues, Westport to Gualala Ridge · Updated September 2026

A venue’s own website will tell you how beautiful it is. It’ll rarely tell you whether there’s a walk-in, how far the load-in is, whether the power will carry induction, or what time the music has to stop. Those are the things that shape a menu, and they’re the things we ask first.

Weddings are only part of what happens at these places. Most also take retreats, family gatherings, milestone birthdays, corporate stays and small private dinners, and several suit twenty people over three days far better than two hundred in one evening.

The venues

Getting married somewhere we haven’t covered? Ask us. We’ve probably cooked near it, and we’ll tell you straight how the food would work there.

What to ask a venue before you book

  • Can we bring our own caterer, and can they use the kitchen? Two different questions. Plenty of places answer yes to the first and no to the second, which hands you a much bigger job than you think. Get the second in writing.
  • Is there refrigeration, and how much? A domestic fridge does not hold food for forty.
  • What will the power carry? Induction draws more than most outdoor sites can give.
  • How far is the load-in? A hundred yards of gravel changes the plan and the price.
  • What time does the music stop? A hard curfew works backwards through the whole evening: it sets when dinner lands, which sets when we start cooking.

And if you need a chef

We cook at these places, which is why we can tell you what the kitchens are actually like: microwedding catering and the dinners either side, retreats, rental-house dinners and family gatherings, from Point Arena to Ten Mile and inland through Anderson Valley.
