Cooking Classes in Mendocino

Cooking classes in your Mendocino rental: a grazing board, a hands-on class and the meal you make, then dessert. Pasta or pizza $175 a person, open fire $200; up to ten.

Cooking Classes · Mendocino County

A cooking class with us happens in your kitchen, or your rental’s: we teach, you cook, and the class ends at the table with the meal you made together. Every class is a whole evening: a grazing board when everyone arrives, the class itself and the meal you cook, then dessert to finish. Pick from fresh pasta, pizza or an open-fire class. From $175 a person, everything included, for groups of up to ten.

It’s more than dinner: it’s an evening with a chef to yourselves. A great fit for a group weekend, a family stay, a bachelorette, or a team that wants to do something with its hands for once.

The classes

Fresh pasta · $175 a person

Pasta dough made by hand, rolled and cut, and sauced with what’s in season on the coast that week.

Pizza · $175 a person

Dough, stretching, toppings and timing, and how to get a great crust out of whatever oven the house has.

Open fire · $200 a person

Building a fire, reading it, and cooking over it, like a ribeye done the way we cook our farm dinners. This one needs a property that allows an open fire and a day without a burn ban, so we’ll check both with you first.

How it works

  • A grazing board to start, out on the table as everyone arrives, so nobody cooks hungry.
  • We bring everything else: the ingredients and the plan, all included in the price.
  • You cook, hands-on, start to finish, with a chef alongside.
  • Then you eat the meal you made, at the table together, and we finish with dessert.
  • You provide the kitchen, and for the fire class, a safe place for the fire.

Good to know

Can we do a class in a vacation rental?

Yes, that’s where most of them happen. Send the listing link and we’ll check the kitchen (and, for the fire class, whether a fire is allowed). Here’s how we size up a rental kitchen.

Can you work around allergies and diets?

Yes. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free versions are no trouble; tell us when you book.

What about the holidays?

Cooking classes aren’t available during the weeks of major holidays: Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Those weeks we cook full holiday dinners instead (see holiday dinners).

Can kids join?

Kids are welcome. Tell us their ages when you get in touch and we’ll shape the class around them.
